Bio

The Z Boys have been rocking the electronic music scene in Puerto Rico since the year 2000. This DJ group came to be after DJ's Christopher Alexander and Hugh Harry, met at an after-hours party held in the now legendary San Juan club "The Warehouse", back in 1999. The two played at almost every gig together, as if by fate, before finally realizing that the similarities in their styles, backgrounds and attitudes were to great to pass up the chance to team up and become a DJ group as well as a production house.

Soon enough, the Z Boys' audience and fan base grew, as did their reputation for being Puerto Rico's first electronic music DJ duo and one of the hottest acts on the island. With stylings ranging from Break Beats, Electro Funk, Acid House, and Minimal/Techno in those early years, to their now signature own brand of Deep/Tech-Acid House, and Techno which perfectly befits the duo's energetic attitude and musical pallad. The Z Boys have definitely crafted a sound all their own throughout the years. Strong influences coming from Detroit, and Berlin(Not to forget Florida for their Breaks), mixed with the Z Boys' multi-cultural musical backgrounds, and high energy level performance, have made this a must have performance at any Electronic Music club or festival on the island.

With the addition of one more member in 2005, The Z Boys line-up has become even stronger. Local DJ/Graphic Art Designer, Tomas Veit, now plays a critical part of this groups diversity in musical stylings as well as it's dynamic presence and artistic direction.

The Z Boys have played at almost every major electronic music festival or event in Puerto Rico since the year 2000, enjoying major status amongst their fan base and corporate sponsored events(HA! Entertainment, Medalla Light, Coors Light, Heineken SBS Productions, amongst a few), which has allowed them to share the stage with many international super acts including:

We won't even get into the residencies throughout the years, but let's just say; even more plentyful, and pillars of Puerto Rico's nightlife/electronic music movement. (The Gallery Cafe, Club Lazers, Red Shield, The Vatican, Pink Skirt, Blend, Beach Bum, Spy Bar, Arturo's, Planet Funk, and on and on and on...)

New productions being worked on carefully, have led to remixing and producing with fellow DJ's/friends, Flavio Acaron and Johnny Cruz. Resulting in the B Side remix for Soulfooled's release of "Reach 2 Control" by Flavio Acaron and Johnny Cruz. Other material (remixes AND full originals) are being shopped around right now to other labels as well.

In the summer of 2010, Z Boys entered Bookashade and Beatport's "Regenerate" remix contest. Twenty finalists battled it out. 10 of these finalists were chosen by the Beatport Staff, and 10 were chosen by the Beatport audience votes. In the end, the winner was picked from the Beatport' staff's 10 finalists, yet... in the Beatport's audience votes; Z Boys came in first place by a wide margin. Over 2, 000 votes. There was a nice mention in the Beatportal page, and The Z Boys... We were'nt sad at all, after all... The most votes showed us real love. ;)
